Encounters
Encounters explores the interactions that emerge when contrasting materials, textures and light are brought into dialogue.
Working with plaster, acrylic and metallic foil, each triptych creates a gradual transition rather than a fixed boundary, allowing one material to give way to another instead of ending abruptly.
The triptych format is integral to the series. Each panel is complete in its own right, yet its full meaning is realised through its relationship with the other two. Together they form a single work in which rhythm, spacing and continuity become part of the composition.
The paintings remain intentionally non-representational. While they may evoke landscapes, architecture, water, geological formations or other personal associations, they are not intended to depict any specific place or subject. Instead, they invite viewers to bring their own memories and experiences into the dialogue, allowing meaning to emerge through personal interpretation.
As light changes throughout the day, the metallic surfaces respond, subtly altering the appearance of each piece. The encounter therefore extends beyond the materials themselves, embracing the surrounding environment and the viewer, making every experience of the work unique.
Rather than presenting opposites in conflict, Encounters explores the quiet spaces where they coexist.
